President is prof.dr. M. Peter van der Hoek, who received his PhD at Erasmus University in Rotterdam (Netherlands) and holds an honorary doctor's degree from Ternopil National Economic University in Ternopil (Ukraine).
He is a professor of Privatization, Management, and Finance at the Doctoral School of Finance & Banking (DOFIN) of the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest (Romania) and External Examiner at the Ukrainian-Dutch Faculty of Ternopil National Economic University in Ternopil (Ukraine). He has retired from Erasmus University Rotterdam, Netherlands, where he has taught Public Finance. He was also affiliated to the University of Electronic Science and Technology, Chengdu, China in the period 2011-2014. M. Peter van der Hoek has been a Visiting Professor at Florida State University in Tallahassee, FL (USA), the Academy of Economic Studies in Chisinau (Moldova), the Economic University in Bratislava (Slovak Republic) and Tallinn University of Technology in Tallinn (Estonia).
He received research fellowships from San Jose State University in San Jose, CA (USA), the University of New South Wales in Sidney (Australia) and Rhodes University in Grahamstown (South Africa). He also received teaching fellowships from Zhejiang Normal University in Jinhua (China), Southwest University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu (China), and the University of Pretoria (South Africa). In addition, he served as keynote speaker at international conferences at Central University in Beijing, China, June 17, 2017 and Southwest University of Finance and Economics in Chengdu, China, June 17-19, 2016
In 2013, the Southeastern Conference for Public Administration awarded him the Senator Boorsma Award for his lifelong record of scholarship, practice and service to the global public community.
M. Peter van der Hoek is the (founding) editor of Public Finance and Management and member of the editorial boards of 9 journals: 6 American, 1 Romanian and 1 Ukrainian.
He was president (2013-2015) of the International Chapter of the American Society for Public Administration (ASPA). He was elected to the Executive Committee of the Association for Budgeting and Financial Management (ABFM) for the period 2019-2021 after having served in this position for 3 terms (2007-2009, 2010-2012 and 2016-2018).
He also served on the Council of the European Association for Evolutionary Political Economy (1999-2002) and the Executive Committee of the International Atlantic Economic Society (1998-2001).
